About Mel

Melissa (Mel) Doskotz is an Illustrator, Graphic Designer, Sculptor & Tiki-Enthusiast based out of Connecticut. She lives with her fiancé and two rambunctious cats, Merlin and Benny. She holds a bachelors degree in illustration from The Fashion Institute of Technology.

Currently, she works as a part-time Creative Director for IDEKO, a NYC based event production company and as a freelance designer and illustrator.

She can be found in artist alleys and across the internet as @Lemmielem (a backwards “MellieMel” with artistic liberties taken). She’s, unsurprisingly, nerdy, often be found traipsing around at a renfaire during the warmer months, or rolling dice in a Dungeons and Dragons session. She’s like really into musicals. If she were to be compared to a Muppet, she’d be Gonzo.

Her skills stretch beyond your typical “computerly design duties”; she can be found slinging clay on a wheel and crafting all types of interesting things, from sewing cosplays to crafting props out of foam, there is nary a craft she hasn’t gotten her mitts on. She is never afraid to roll up her sleeves and get her hands dirty.

Her interests span across many mediums and vocations and is up for any challenge anyone tosses her way.
